Loren Taylor has been acting in film, television and theatre since she was 17. She won Best Actress for her leading role as Lily in ‘Eagle vs Shark’ at the Newport International Film Festival and the St Tropez Festival de Antipodes. Loren attended the Sundance Feature lab and worked with Taika Waititi on their award-winning screenplay for ‘Eagle vs Shark’. That film was picked up by Miramax and released worldwide.
As a writer/director, Loren directed her first feature film ‘Going, Going’ in New Zealand. Her music video for The Phoenix Foundation starring Bret McKenzie was featured on The Guardian. She has also written and directed commercials for international and local brands.
Loren’s particular strength in performance direction was honed by her wealth of experience as both an actor and also a highly regarded casting director. She has a co-casting credit on ‘What We Do In The Shadows’, and collaborated on Derek Cianfrance’s film ‘The Light Between Oceans’.
She is particularly known for her work with children, which began with casting and on-set coaching for the Oscar nominated short ‘Two Cars One Night’ and has taken her into the Australian desert on Glendyn Ivin’s film ‘The Last Ride’.
